The Indy Fuel dropped their second game in a back-to-back series against the Cincinnati Cyclones.
In the first period, the Cyclones took a quick 1-0 lead after Benjamin Johnson beat Chase Marchand with a beautiful backhand move in front of the net. Tim Shoup of the Indy Fuel tied the game less than five minutes later with his first goal of the year (and what a pretty goal it was). Shoup was not done, as he sniped his second of the period before the buzzer sounded. The Fuel’s leading point-getters, Alex Krushelnyski and Spencer Watson, each grabbed another point from Shoup’s second goal. Indy held a 2-1 lead at the end of one.
Unfortunately for the Fuel, the second period read differently. On a broken play, Cincinnati’s John Edwardh eliminated the Fuel lead. Early in the period, when the Fuel were pressuring in the offensive zone, the puck was flung back down the ice towards the Fuel net. Edwardh flew down the ice and chipped the puck over a sprawling Chase Marchand, who reached out to cover. Later, Cody Sol grabbed his first goal of the year off the face-off, giving Cincinnati the lead back.
Despite the Cyclones handing the Fuel two power plays in the third period, the Fuel ultimately couldn’t capitalize. Indy moved to 3-3-0 while Cincinnati moved to 2-1-1. The Fuel will travel to Fort Wayne, Indiana to face the Komets on November 2nd.
