Fuel fall on Batman night in Indianapolis

The Indy Fuel dropped their matchup against the Wheeling Nailers 3-2 on Batman night in Indiana Farmers Coliseum, as the Fuel donned Batman uniforms and the Nailers donned Joker uniforms. For the remainder of the article, I will refer to both team by a different actor who has portrayed either role/nickname for the characters. There will be a key at the bottom for clarity.

The Jack Nicholson’s took an early 1-0 lead due to Alex Butcher’s unassisted goal, a beautiful slot shot that grazed the crossbar at 10:56. Later, the Heath Ledger’s extended their lead when Spencer Trapp slipped through the defense and delivered a forehand-backhand move in front of the net. At the end of one, the Clown Princes of Crime held a solid 2-0 lead.

The Caped Crusaders brought the game back to within one when Dylan McLaughlin touched a breakaway chance past the goal line. Then, with less than six minutes remaining in the second period, Sam Kurker scored his first goal for the Christian Bales, tying the game at two goals apiece.

Of course, the Battle of Gotham had to end in dramatic fashion. With 1:23 left in regulation, the Mark Hamill’s Blake Siebenaler broke the tie with a crowded slot shot. In the end, the Jesters of Genocide took home the victory.
