Saturday morning, Nashville Predators fans joined Gnash for his Second Annual Mini Golf Invitational at Family Golf Center in Antioch. The event brought families, and adults alike, together to benefit the 365 Pediatric Cancer Fund at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt. The 365 Pediatric Cancer Fund is a partnership between Shea Weber and Pekka Rinne and its focus is to raise money for the Preds donation, done annually, to the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital.

The sky may have stayed cloudy throughout the event, but the rain luckily held off, creating a perfect environment for a round of mini golf. By 10:00am, every hole was filled with fans, mascots and members of the Energy Team for the shotgun start.

“It was great to see so many people come out here, lots of kids this year, which is kind of the idea,” said Chris Parker, Executive Vice President and Chief Sales & Marketing Officer for the Nashville Predators. “People seem to have a great time. We expose them to another area of town and we’re thrilled to continue the tradition.”

There were multiple companies that worked alongside the Predators and Family Golf Center to make the event a success including Twice Daily, the title sponsor.

“Family Golf Center first and foremost really did a tremendous job for us and we had a blast,” Parker continued. “Our friends at Twice Daily and Pepsi gave us all the food and product for today. We really appreciate all of their help and they’ve been great partners. They’re always there when we need them.”

Family Golf Center enjoys hosting the event as it brings a lot of people to the area and hopefully means more business as the weather continues to get warmer.

“Come out, we’re going to get new go-karts and new batting cages this year,” said Mary Moreno, manager of Family Golf Center. “In about a month, it’s going to be a grand re-opening.”

Fans did seem to enjoy their time interacting with mascots and other Predators personalities. Present at the event was Gnash, Ruckus of the Huntsville Havoc, Ozzie of the Nashville Sounds, T-Rac of the Tennessee Titans, Mr. C of Vanderbilt University, Marshall Molar of Delta Dental and Champ of the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital.

While considered to be a fun-for-all event, some fans were taking the game serious in preparation for the start.

“Obviously I’m just going to try my hardest to just keep my head in the game and not get too rattled,” said Codey Holland of Section303.com. “I can’t really scoreboard watch all that much, but you have to be aware of how things are going. As long as I stay focused and keep my eye on the ball, it should be a good game.”

Staying focused is something that Patten Fuqua of Puckscene.com was able to accomplish, as he sank a hole-in-one on hole 10. He described sinking the shot as making it through a stop light while it was yellow, before turning red.

“Playing with Fuqua is a tremendous honor,” said Jeremy Gover of Section303.com. “Seeing the hole-in-one was really great and it was an honor to be there with him and on his team.

While the final scores have yet to be tallied, everyone in attendance enjoyed themselves and this is an event that all should look forward to each year.
