UAH vs Bemidji State Post Game

UAH logoLast night, the University of Alabama-Hunstville played its inaugural game in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association. The Bemidji State Beavers, an old rival from College Hockey America, came to town to take on the Chargers. It was a hard-fought first period, with much control of the game going to the Chargers. The last 3 minutes of the first saw a power play goal being scored by UAH’s Alex Allan, quickly followed by two quick goals from the Beavers. UAH was never able to regain control of the game, and Bemidji State came out with a 6-1 victory. There were many positives from the game as Coach Mike Corbett, Jeff Vanderlugt and Alex Allan speak on them.

Positives:

  • Strong forecheck to begin the game.
  • Early shots on goal.
  • Drawing penalties.
  • The student section was loud and proud.

Needs work:

  • Puck possession late in the game.
  • Converting on the power play.
  • Passing, passing, passing.

The students were supporting the team, the entire game and it will only continue to grow as the team does.
