Kurt Gosselin scored the first three goals for the University of Alabama in Huntsville Chargers en route to their 5-3 victory over Ferris State. Saturday’s victory was their third in a row over the Bulldogs.
The first period ended with the Chargers holding on to the lead, but in the second the Bulldogs scored twice to regain the lead they had early in the first. It was at 3:39 of the third period where defenseman Kurt Gosselin tallied his hat trick goal. Gosselin’s hat trick was the first for the program since February 1, 2008 when Cale Tanaka notched one against Robert Morris.
Another big performer on the night was center Max McHugh, who totaled three assists. McHugh assisted on each of Gosselin’s three goals.
The win also marked the first victory at home this season. The Chargers (5-10-2), had won all previous games on the road.
Deservedly so, the three stars of the night were:
- Kurt Gosselin (3 goals)
- Max McHugh (3 assists)
- Cam Knight (1 goal, 2 assists)
