After having last weekend off, the University of Alabama in Huntsville Chargers brought the action back to the Propst Arena ice in their two-game series against the Michigan Tech Huskies.

The first of the two games were held on Friday, January 31st. First period action was lacking, leaving the scoreboard blank entering the second period. Finally breaking the silence, the UAH Chargers’ Daneel Lategan was able to score at 8:27 in the second with the assistance of his teammates, Liam Izyk and Bauer Neudecker.  However, that would be the only goal UAH would be able to get for this game.

The rest of the scoring action came from Michigan Tech all within the third period. The Huskies were able to find the net four times, including one power play goal, within a span of just over 10 minutes. These goals were scored by Raymond Brice, Parker Saretsky, Brian Halonen (pp goal), and Logan Pietila. The final outcome of the game was 4-1 in favor of Michigan.

Rebounding from the previous night’s loss, UAH seemed to have a renewed fire and physicality for the second and last game in the matchup. Both teams weren’t ready to go down without a fight, resulting in 20 total penalties for the game (19 minor, 1 major).

In the first period, UAH’s Connor Wood opened the scoring with an assist from Ben Allen at 8:36. The second period continued the Chargers’ tallies, with the only power play goal of the game, from Jack Jeffers, assisted by Liam Izyk and Tanner Hickey.

Michigan Tech was able to stop the impending shutout by finally netting their first goal of the game at 12:12 in the third period. This was scored by Tommy Parrottino and assisted by Colin Swoyer and Greyson Reitmeier.  To finish off the game and clench the win, Liam Izyk was able to send the puck from one end of the ice to the other, scoring a shorthanded, empty-net goal for the final tally of the game and the series.

UAH’s season record now stands at 2-20-4. Their next scheduled games are February 7th and 8th at the Von Braun Center in Huntsville.
