Stan’s Stars, Slackers and Suckers 4

Stars: Martin St Louis, RW, Tampa Bay Lightning; Jaromir Jagr, RW, Dallas Stars; Teemu Selanne, RW, Anaheim Ducks, RW

St Louis-Jagr-Selanne

More times than not, I find myself as the oldest person in the crowd that I’m in. So it is with great pleasure to recognize Martin St Louis, Jaromir Jagr, and Teemu Selanne as this weeks stars! These gentlemen are all over 35 and have been on beast mode since the season started.

Martin St Louis, 37, leads the Lightning in goals scored (3) and is tied with youngster Steven Stamkos for most points in Tampa Bay with five.

Jaromir Jagr, 40, is tied for the most goals on the Stars with two and leads Dallas in the points column with four.

Teemu Selanne, 42, is tied for third in points with two goals and two assists for the undefeated Anaheim Ducks.

Slackers: PK Subban, D, Montreal Canadians; Jamie Benn, LW, Dallas Stars, and Ryan O’Reilly, C, Colorado Avalanche

Subban-Benn-O'Reilly

The top three Restricted Free Agents (RFA) in the league are still unsigned without a glimpse of a contract in sight.  How does this affect their teams in a shortened season? Only time will tell, but every game counts and not having their presence in the lineup is certainly not helping their teams.

PK Subban, top line defensemen, was fifth in points last season for the Habs.  His presence on the blue line is definitely missed with Montreal bringing up the bottom of the Northeast.

The Stars picked up a couple of veterans this off season and they are leading the team in points.  Although Dallas have won two of three, having Benn in the line up would definitely provide more fire power for the Stars.

The Avs are second in the Northwest after winning one of their first two games, but are still missing their leader in points from last season, Ryan O’Reilly.

Suckers: Jordin Tootoo, RW, Detroit Red Wings

Tootoo

This weeks bone-head play of the week belongs to Red Wings Right Winger, Jordin Tootoo.  During the Wings’ opening game at St. Louis, the former Nashville Predator took a 10 minute game misconduct.    At 4:09 of the third period, down 5-0, Tootoo attempted a hit on St. Louis Blues Right WInger, Vladimir Tarasenko.  The best thing about this attempted hit, he missed!
