Southern Hostility – Pixar Story Artist, Writer and Director Bobby Rubio

Cameron and Justin are joined by Pixar Story Artist, Writer and Director Bobby Rubio. Rubio is the writer/director of the Pixar SparkShorts film Float. They discuss everything from Filipino culture, designing Marvel Comics covers, working in animation and his short, Float, which feature’s Pixar’s first filipino character. The short celebrates being different and tells Rubio’s own story about having a child on the autism spectrum.

Other films and series that Rubio has worked on: Incredibles 2, Inside Out, Brave, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Up, Treasure Planet, Atlantis: The Lost Empire, The Emperor’s New Groove, Tarzan, Mulan, Hercules and Pocahontas.

Cameron fell in love with hockey while playing inline hockey for 6 years throughout elementary school. After high school and a short stint playing Ska Punk Trombone, Cameron Gumpy studied improv & stand up comedy for years at the Sacramento Comedy Spot in Sacramento, California. When moving to Nashville became a possibility in April 2011, Cameron followed the Predators during their first playoff series victory. Since moving to Nashville, Cameron has become a Predators season ticket holder and currently studies improv at West Coast Comedy in Marathon Village.
