Based on reports from several prominent hockey reporters, the Nashville Predators are placing Matt Duchene on unconditional waivers for the purpose of a buyout.
It’s safe to say no one saw this coming, but it also clearly demonstrates Barry Trotz’s willingness to move on from large contracts.
It’s also worth noting that Duchene has a modified no-trade clause that was set to kick in tomorrow.
