Report: Andrew Brunette to Replace John Hynes as Nashville Predators’ Head Coach

After a month of speculation, the Nashville Predators are making a head coaching change.

According to Kevin Weekes, the Preds are moving on from John Hynes and bringing in Andrew Brunette.

Hynes took over the Preds’ bench on January 7, 2020, one day after the team fired Peter Laviolette. He had a 134-96-18 record as head coach during the regular season, but a dismal 3-11 record in three postseason appearances with the Predators.

Brunette, a player with the Predators during their inaugural season, comes to Nashville after spending this past season as an assistant with the New Jersey Devils. Last season, he led the Florida Panthers to the President’s Trophy as an interim coach and earned a nomination for the Jack Adams Award for the NHL’s top coach. Brunette was, somewhat surprisingly, not retained as the team’s full-time coach.
