Preds win big in return home

Following a four-game road trip that took them across western Canada, the Nashville Predators returned home and gave the crowd a 5-0 victory over the New York Islanders.

Though Nashville only collected four of a possible eight points on the road trip, Yannick Weber felt like the team did a lot of things right and deserved more in the game. Everything just came together for them in a great way Thursday night. Craig Smith scored just 35 seconds into the game, and the Predators left the first period with a 3-0 lead.

Smith then notched a hat trick in the second period on the fifth goal of the game and from then on, Nashville was able to shut down New York.

Juuse Saros stopped 31 shots overall, but the defense was overall able to keep them to the outside and on bad angles. The game a near complete game by the team, and moves them to within three points of Arizona and Calgary with four and two games in hand, respectively.
