Preds unable to hold late lead, fall to Lightning in overtime

For a game that started off with weird goals, goal reviews and back and forth play, it was expected that the ending wouldn’t be so simple either. The Nashville Predators held on to a 3-2 lead late into the third period before Tampa Bay’s Steven Stamkos scored with just 2:12 left in regulation to send the game to overtime. Yanni Gourde scored in overtime for the Lightning, who sit atop the league with 69 points.

Pontus Aberg, who has given every chance to succeed with Filip Forsberg out, notched his first point since December 14. He has skated with the top six for the majority of the time that Forsberg has been out, and while he’s shown some flashes of it finally clicking for him, he hasn’t been able to get on the scoresheet much. He noted that it’s been a difficult season for him, but feels that he’s been playing well.

Hear from Ryan Ellis, Pontus Aberg and Peter Laviolette in our post game report.
