Nashville stuck with the forward position in the second round, drafting centerman Grant Mismash from the U.S. National Development team. Mismash was tied with Sharks’ first rounder Josh Norris for the team lead in scoring with 61 points last year and his 26 goals ranked second, behind Norris. He won gold with the United States U18 team at the IIHF U18 World Championships this year.
The University of North Dakota commit has plenty of experience in International tournaments, playing in the 2015 World U17 Challenge, the 2015 U17 Four Nations Tournament and the 2016 U17 Five Nations Tournament.

Mismash will likely attend the U.S. World Junior Summer Camp before making the jump to the UND lineup next season. He will be looked at to replace the scoring lost with Tyson Jost and Brock Boeser signing their NHL deals. Mismash is not afraid to crash the net and he excels at winning puck battles and creating scoring chances. He has a sneaky shot and can score the “greasy” goals that the Nashville brass has emphasized the past few seasons.
The hallmarks of his game are strong skating and forechecking. He fits the mold of the aggressive, physical forward that Nashville needs in playoff series against teams like the Blues and Ducks.
