In case you missed it, Penalty Box Radio had a viral internet moment today at the 2023 NHL Draft.
While recording a “man on the street” interview segment on the streets of Nashville, Alex Daugherty and Shaun Smith of Penalty Box Radio interviewed Kyle Davidson, the general manager of the Chicago Blackhawks, without realizing it.
Here’s the full video:
Please trust us when we say: this was not staged. That’s really Kyle Davidson and we really had no idea it was him during the interview.
And it’s safe to say the hockey world enjoyed every minute of it. First, the Blackhawks got involved:
Other Chicago outlets, like WGN and NBC Sports Chicago found it immediately and shared it around. And not long after that, major sports networks like ESPN, TSN, and Sportsnet, took notice and shared the story.
Among the many reactions to this was… what was Kyle Davidson doing on the streets of Nashville before the draft?
He shared the story from his perspective on NHL Network, which is recapped here:
Of course, eventually Davidson had to return to Bridgestone Arena and draft Connor Bedard with the #1 overall pick.
Hey, that guy looks familiar!
