With the 22nd overall pick in the 2024 NHL Draft, the Nashville Predators selected forward Yegor Surin. The 17-year-old Russian forward has grown up in the Lokomotiv Yaroslavl program in Russia.
In 43 games in the Russian junior league (MHL) this year, Surin scored 22 goals and 52 points, finishing ninth in league scoring. Surin also earned a three-game call-up to the KHL.
Surin is a sturdy forward at 6’1″ and 190 pounds. He’s constantly moving his feet on every shift, buzzing all over the ice, and leading his team in puck pursuit. He’s a skilled puck handler, capturing defenders’ attention with his dynamic play. He’ll draw opponents into a defensive move then burst out of a deke or around the outside in his charge to the net. Surin is a good skater too and provides plenty of value in transition and puck protection.
Surin is currently signed with Lokomotiv Yaroslavl through 2026.
