The NHL released its first list of NHL All-Stars today, and included in the list is Nashville Predators forward Filip Forsberg.
Forsberg leads the Predators in goals (18), assists (24), and power play assists (13) through 38 games. He also leads the team in multi-point games (13) and games with three or more points (4).
He’s been a crucial part of Nashville’s offense this season, helping fuel a surprising start for the Preds. They sit in the first Wild Card spot in the Western Conference with a 21-16-1 record.
This will be Forsberg’s 2nd trip to the All-Star Game. He last attended the event as a rookie in 2015.
The league announced 32 names today, one from each team. Twelve more players will be voted on by fans in the coming weeks. This year’s All-Star game will be played at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto on February 3rd.
Like in previous years, the NHL All-Star game will be a “three on three” tournament between four teams. A draft will take place on February 1st to determine the rosters, with four captains (to be named later) drafting their teams.
Here’s a fun moment from the last time Filip Forsberg made the All-Star game in 2015, when he ended up winning a car for being the last player selected in the draft:
