Following the March 2nd trade deadline, teams that aren’t seeking to make noise in the playoffs have now acquired multiple draft picks to use this summer. Some teams like the Maple Leafs, Coyotes and Sabres will have multiple picks in the first round. As the season continues to play out, it will be interesting to see which teams complete the tank in the battle for the top two spots in the draft, which will most likely be where Connor McDavid and Jack Eichel are drafted.
As it’s been stated multiple times, this upcoming draft is a generational one. There are players currently ranked as low first round picks that, in other years, would most likely be top 10 picks. A close example to this upcoming draft would be the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. Names taken in the first round that year include Marc-Andre Fleury, Eric Staal, Ryan Suter, Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry. Shea Weber was taken 49th overall in the second round that year.
One notable move in the rankings is Mitchell Marner of the London Knights. During the fall, Marner was hovering around the lower teens in regards to rankings. He has now jumped into the top five. In 56 games this season, Marner has put up 119 points (43G-76A). That’s good enough for 16 points ahead of the next leading scorer on the Knights.

March 04, 2015 [Guelph, ON] ISS Hockey has released its monthly rankings of the top prospects eligible for the 2015 NHL Draft. This month’s rankings include the top 200 skaters, along with the top 15 goaltenders, as evaluated and ranked by ISS Hockey’s worldwide network of scouts.
Below is the ISS Top 30, highlighting the rankings for the top 30 prospects, which are released on the first Wednesday of every month during the hockey season. Mitchell Marner jumps up three positions to #5 to join McDavid (#1), Eichel (#2), Crouse (#3), and Hanifin (#4) in the Top 5 of ISS Hockey’s release of its March ISS Top 30. Farjestad BK players, Joel Ek Eriksson and Oliver Kylington fluctuate on ISS Top 30. Ek Eriksson rises 9 positions to #21 and Kylington falls 12 positions to #24.
