Huge Let Down
At the end of the 2nd period yesterday, the Predators seemed to have everything under control with a 4-1 lead against the New Jersey Devils. Nashville allowed three goals in the 3rd period and eventually lost 5-4 in overtime. The team and fans were noticeably upset and for good reason. Giving up a large lead, and being a defensive minded team, is unacceptable. Hopefully, this will be a small blip on their radar as they continue their current home-stand.
Streaking at Home
The Predators are currently 11-8-4 on the season and looking to get their 10th straight point at home against the Philadelphia Flyers. With Juuse Saros getting the start today, the Predators will look to player a stronger defensive game after the let down in the third period versus the Devils. The Predators are 8-1-2 at Bridgestone Arena this season while being 3-7-2 on the road. They have one of the best records in the Western Conference at home this season and are 6-3-1 over their last ten games. The Predators will need to continue their ongoing success at home for the team to keep pace in the conference.
Fiala Playing Well
The Predators are always in need of dynamic forwards to put up points, and Kevin Fiala can be that forward. Fiala has averaged more than one point per game while with the Milwaukee Admirals (two goals, six assists in eight games). Yesterday, the St. Gallen, CHE native scored two goals, pushing his season season total in Nashville to five goals. The Predators need this young, dynamic forward to become a consistent goal-scorer. If Nashville can get Fiala to produce, this relationship could remain constant.
