Between the Fangs: Taking Bets for Johansen vs. Kesler Smackdown

As the summer drags on, Bridgestone Arena’s boardroom seems to get quieter and quieter. Yes, the Nashville Predators did pick up a familiar face in Dan Hamuis, who signed a 2 year, $2.5 million dollar deal. And yes, Miikka Salomäki will be sticking around for a little while longer.

Really though, with players like Jeff Skinner being traded for Pu-nuts and every Ottawa Senator practically begging for an exit, you’d like to see the Predators do a bit more. From players to coaches to management, they’ve made it clear that they trust their group to get it done this year. When you consider just how good the Central Division is looking though, it could be cause for concern. Are the Predators in better or worse shape than last year as a Cup Contender? We discuss!

More importantly, in an almost certainly inebriated lapse of judgement, Ryan Kesler has officially challenged Ryan Johansen to a streetfighting duel? Or perhaps 1v1 street hockey? Take a look and decide for yourself:

It’s a strange, unprovoked challenge from a geriatric, hate-fueled fossil who’s not expected to skate very often this year. Regardless, Ryan Johansen responded with upmost class and dignity (I’d expect nothing less from the greatest player in NHL history):

Despite the pleasant interruption by interaction – as strange as it was brief, I did manage to convince George to sit still for a full hour and talk about hockey.
