The Milwaukee Admirals lost their third straight contest on Wednesday evening in a 1-0 loss to the Texas Stars. The win certainly did not come easily for the Stars though, as the Admirals led shots 29-28. Texas goaltender Landon Bow was up to the task of turning away all 29 Admirals shots and earned his first shutout of the season.

While the Admirals did put some offensive pressure on Texas, they lost this one early on. Texas center Joel L’Esperance scored his 25th goal of the season 61 seconds into the first period, beating Milwaukee netminder Troy Grosenick. Texas led shots in the first period 14-5.

In the second period the only excitement came 35 seconds into the period when Matt Donovan completed a clean hit on one of the Texas skaters and Michael Mersch dropped the gloves and then threw Donovan into the back of the net. Both received 4 minute roughing penalties. Texas led 9-6 in shots.

The third period was scoreless again. Milwaukee put together an offensive onslaught the just never found the back of the net. They put 18 shots on Bow in the third, but he handled them all with ease and earned the shutout.

Game Notes:

The Stars organization is known as being a very defense focused organization, so it is no shock that the Stars were able to shut down the Admirals offense. However, I was extremely impressed with out the Admirals came out of the locker room going into the third period. They definitely dominated play during the third.

The Admirals are going to strongly benefit from Colin Blackwell being sent back down to Milwaukee after the Predators activated Kyle Turris and acquiring Brian Boyle and Cody McLeod. I also think that the Admirals could possibly receive another Nashville skater before the trade deadline to make room for everyone.

The Admirals still sit in fourth place in the Central with 53 points and are now 8 points behind first place Grand Rapids.
