Pontus Åberg (2012 – 2nd round pick) got a little taste of the NHL last season in the playoffs. This year, he’s hoping to impress the coaching staff enough to earn a spot on the opening night roster.
Åberg received minutes in two Stanley Cup playoff games in the 2015-16 season. Even though he played less than 10 minutes each game, it still game him enough of a taste to work harder in the offseason to make a bigger impression on the organization. Åberg is one of the players on the cusp of making the roster, and if he doesn’t make it on opening night, he’ll certainly be at the top of the list as a call-up.
