A conversation with Russian Five director Joshua Riehl

A conversation with Russian Five director Joshua Riehl

The Russian Five is a film on the stories of five Russian players that emigrated to America, played for the Detroit Red Wings and helped the city hoist the Stanley Cup for the first time in 42 years. The names Fedorov, Larionov, Fetisov, Kozlov, and Konstantinov are so well-known in Detroit and around the hockey world. Director Joshua Riehl tells their story in The Russian Five.

We spoke with Riehl to learn about the process of creating the film, what inspired him to make it, gathering interviews from all over the world, exploring the fan side with actor Jeff Daniels and why this story is an important one to tell.

In Nashville, The Russian Five opens at Regal Hollywood 27 May 17, and will be there until May 23. It is also set to release on iTunes in June. Pre-orders available soon. The film will then release on DVD and Blu-Ray. For more information on screenings, visit The Russian Five.
