Predators Claim Forward Samuel Fagemo Off Waivers from Kings

The Nashville Predators have added another piece to their forward corps. According to Elliotte Friedman, the Preds have claimed forward Samuel Fagemo off waivers from the Los Angeles Kings.

Fagemo, 23, was a second-round pick of the Kings back in 2019 after a dynamic debut season in the SHL, scoring 25 points as an 18-year-old for Frolunda and leading all rookies in playoff scoring with six goals and ten points. He’s since earned the reputation as a reliable scorer at the AHL level with 50 goals for the Ontario Reign over the past two seasons. Fagemo also scored two goals in a nine-game call-up with the Kings last year. He most recently scored the Kings’ game-winning goal in Saturday’s preseason win over the San Jose Sharks.

The Predators’ plan for Fagemo will be an intriguing storyline to watch over the final week of training camp. There was a lot of belief among Kings fans that Fagemo could develop into a reliable depth scorer with more consistent minutes, something the Predators desperately need moving forward. But first, he’ll need to compete with the likes of Luke Evangelista, Kiefer Sherwood, and Denis Gurianov to earn those minutes with the Preds.

Fagemo is currently playing on a one-year contract worth $775K at the NHL level and $100K at the AHL level. He’s slated to become a restricted free agent at the end of the season.
