Preds can’t capitalize, fall to Detroit 3-1

It’s not too often that the Nashville Predators find themselves losing back-to-back games at home, but their loss 3-1 to Detroit on Saturday, did just that. It was a better effort overall compared to the loss to Calgary on Thursday night, but finally notching a goal on the power play and putting up 32 total shots on net wasn’t enough.

“I think we worked hard tonight,” said Roman Josi. “Everybody cares in this room. Everybody is trying. We’ve got to get back to 100% playing our way.”

Goaltender Petr Mrazek played lights out for the Red Wings in only his 17th game of the season, making 31 saves. Luke Witkowski and Gustav Nyquist scored goals for Detroit, and Darren Helm added an empty netter.

Craig Smith scored the lone goal for the Predators while on the power play late in the third period.
