Evason Wants More Offense Out Of Sissons

The Milwaukee Admirals held their annual media day today October 9th at the BMO Harris Bradley Center. The event began with a team practice followed by a press conference with Head Coach Dean Evason and interviews.

Evason spoke a little about naming defenseman Joe Piskula as captain for the 2014-2015 season. Piskula, a Wisconsin native, is an all-around leader for the team and his community.

“He is just a good person the guys can learn from on the ice, but they can learn off the ice how he conducts himself on a daily basis; how he trains and how he treats people,” said Evason.

This is a big part of leadership and plays a significant role in the development of the new younger players we have this season.

Evason also commented on one of Nashville’s top prospects, Colton Sissons. Sissons was selected as one of the alternate captains, taking on a large leadership role as just a second-year player.

“Colton Sissions has been a leader from day one,” Evason explained. He believes Milwaukee has a very good leadership core to support the team this season.

Sissons seems to be on just the cusp of cracking the roster for Nashville. While he is a good two-way player, Evason wants Sissons to think a little more offensively as he concentrates a bit too much on being a defensive player. Evason believes it is just a matter of time as long as he continues to do the right things here in Milwaukee. Unfortunately, Nashville signed a lot of center icemen this summer, which bumped Sissons a little.

However, Sissons is excited to be here and play a leadership role for the Admirals.

“It’s nothing I am not used to and I like have a little bit of pressure on my shoulders,” said Sissons.

He is going to make the most of his time in Milwaukee and wants to continue the way he left off.

The puck drops for the Admirals Home opener Friday, October 10th at 7pm at the BMO Harris Bradley Center against the Charlotte Checkers.
