The Milwaukee Admirals have been an offensive powerhouse in the AHL this season, that is no surprise to anybody. Wednesday night, however, the Milwaukee Admirals set a new franchise record with an 11 game winning streak after defeating the Manitoba Moose 6-3. The 10 game winning streak was set in 2015.

Scoring started a little over halfway through the first period when Rem Pitlick scored on the powerplay. This was Pitlick’s 7th goal of the season and fifth on the powerplay. Alexandre Carrier (13) and Jeremy Davies (5) had the assists. Not even a minute later (12:36) Yakov Trenin scored off a pass from Colin Blackwell (12) to give the Admirals a two goal lead going into the second.

At 5:40 of the second period, the Manitoba Moose pulled goaltender Mikhail Berdin in favor of an extra attacker during a delayed penalty call on Milwaukee. Manitoba mishandled the puck in the offensive zone and the puck rolled back into their own goal. Alexandre Carrier was credited with his third goal of the season.

At 8:26, Yakov Trenin scored his tenth goal of the season with an assist from Eeli Tolvanen (3). Trenin now trails Daniel Carr by only 1 goal for leading the team in goals. Manitoba’s Seth Griffith put the Moose on the board at 17:38 of the second.

Manitoba scored first in the third period when Andrei Chibisov was able to beat Milwaukee netminder Connor Ingram. But late into the third period, Eeli Tolvanen scored his fifth goal of the season at 16:41 on the powerplay.

At 18:53, the Admirals were on a penalty kill and Manitoba had pulled their goaltender in favor of an extra attacker. A battling Tanner Jeannot was able to push into the offensive zone and backhanded the puck into the net. Manitoba managed a late powerplay goal to make the final score 6-3.

Game Notes

I don’t have much to say about this team right now outside of how offensively powerful they’ve been of late. Their powerplay has been incredible and players like Eeli Tolvanen and Rem Pitlick are starting to produce at the pace they are expected to.

It was nice seeing a six goal game out of this team, given that this was their first contest without Daniel Carr since this winning streak began. Yakov Trenin filled in nicely. If there is one player that still needs to break out, it’s Anthony Richard.

The Admirals will look to extend their winning streak to 12 on Saturday at 7:00PM when they play in San Antonio against the Rampage.
