Tonight, at Pepsi Arena in Denver, the Nashville Predators took on the Colorado Avalanche.

During the 1st period, the Preds tallied the only goal of the period. Filip Forsberg was able to put in his 12th of the year, a breakaway goal against Calvin Pickard. Forsberg was very active during the first period with 1 goal, 2 shots, and 6:06 on the ice during the 1st.

The Preds drought on the PP continues. The Preds had two chances during the 1st and the were 0/2. Pekka Rinne was solid stopping 8 shots in the 1st.

The 2nd period was a period of chances, yet neither team was able to capitalize. Many of the chances came on rushes from turnovers, specifically in the neutral-zone. The Preds would go into the 3rd period with a PP from a high-sticking call on Jerome Iginla with 22.2 seconds remaining in the period.

As usual, the Preds were unable to capitalize on the PP, even with a double minor called against the Avalanche at the end of the 2nd period.

The play of the 3rd period was very similar to the second with lots of chances, back and forth, but both goalies stood strong for their respective teams. Towards the end of the 3rd, the Avs pulled Pickard from net and the Preds capitalized with two empty net goals from Gabriel Bourque (18:10)…
