The puck was dropped on the SECHC Playoffs last night at the Pelham Civic Complex in Pelham, Alabama. Eight of the best teams converged to find out who is the best in the SECHC.

The first game of the evening was South Carolina versus Old Miss. The Gamecocks jumped on the board with an early 2-0 lead. The Rebels scored two in the second to tie the game. In the third period, USC scored three unanswered goals to win the game 5-2.

The second game of the evening saw hometown favorites the Alabama Frozen Tide take on Vanderbilt. Bama jumped out to an early 2-0 lead before Vandy’s John Longman buried one at 6:13 of the first. The Frozen Tide would score two more in the first and take a 4-1 lead into the second. Vandy’s Daniel Hogue would get the scoring started in the second when he lit the lamp at 9:09. Bama would score one in the second to take a 5-2 lead into the third. The third period was all Alabama as they scored two unanswered goals to win the game 7-2.

In the third game of the evening, Arkansas, the top team in the ACHA Pacific, took on the Tennessee Ice Vols. The Razorbacks would prove too stout of a foe for UT. Arkansas defeated the Vols 13-0.

In the last game of the evening, Auburn jumped out to an early 1-0 lead against Florida. The Gators scored two in the first and take a 2-1 lead into the first intermission. The Tigers scored one in the second, but the Gators were too much, scoring six and taking an 8-2 lead into the third. Florida would add four more goals in the final period to win the game 12-2.

In today’s games, the Auburn Tigers take on the Tennessee Ice Vols at 2 pm CT for seventh place. Vandy faces familiar foe Ole Miss at 3:15 for fifth place.

In the first semifinal game, South Carolina takes on Arkansas at 7 pm CT. In the last game of the evening, the Alabama Frozen Tide will play the Florida Gators at 9:50 PM CT.
